THE BUSINESS PROBLEM

The Department was faced with the challenges of rising customer expectations, reduced budget allocation, the need to revitalise frontline services and reduce red tape whilst meeting increased service delivery goals. They needed a consulting partner that could help develop a sustainable business improvement capability in critical areas whilst achieving targeted improvement goals across selected processes.

 

 

OUR ROLE

WDScott built respect, trust and a long term relationship with the client by discerning genuine needs, providing advice drawn from relevant experience and delivering value for money consulting, facilitation and coaching services. Our services included:

  • Supporting the development of a strategy for introducing and growing Lean
  • Providing advice on governance processes and the establishment of a centre of excellence in business improvement
  • Target process evaluation and selection
  • Planning and facilitation of accelerated improvement workshops
  • Development of tailored training courses in Lean management and facilitation, identifying potential Lean leaders and providing coaching and ongoing support
  • Development and support for a capability development pathway, building a group of internal Lean leaders, equipped with our tools and methodology, who in turn expanded the reach of the improvement program

 

 

OUTCOME

A program identified over 20 major improvement initiatives exceeding targeted objectives, typically achieving greater than 60% reductions in cycle time and increases in service levels and growing a team of over five certified internal Lean practitioners. The program achieved a Return on Investment (including internal costs) of 175% in 18 months and won an Excellence Award in 2013.
